Job Description - Development Manager

Position Overview
Reporting to the Executive Director, this mission critical role has primary responsibility for: building and maintaining a dependable revenue stream through channels such as annual giving and special even fund raising; and managing marketing and communications efforts to achieve growth in visibility and ensure a consistent and positive public image. This leadership role interfaces with all staff and numerous donors and volunteers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Fund Raising:
    • Special Events:
      • Planning and execution of major fundraising events which include but are not limited to Gala and the Great-est Escape.
      • Support YES board in planning and executing 1 major and 2-3 smaller fund raising events per year.
      • Lead "Community Fundraising" (Outside Sponsored Event) activities
    • Annual Giving:
      • Conduct at least one annual appeal tactic via direct mail
      • Conduct at least three annual appeal tactics via email/social media to appropriate sub segments of the SCF donor/prospect population
    • Manage Holiday Giving Programs (ie: bears and cards)
    • Assist Program Services team with solicitation of in-kind donations for Great Escape events.
    • Support Executive Direct with major gift cultivation, solicitation & stewardship.
    • Act as liaison for Event Sponsors, Vendors and Donors.
  • Communications:
    • Oversee development and distribution of quarterly newsletter and 6 e-newsletters annually.
    • Support development and distribution of press releases as needed.
  • Foundation Management:
    • Manage and create events budgets.
    • Conduct monthly analysis of budget position and fund raising effectiveness.
    • Ensure all gifts are processed accurately and in a timely fashion.

Qualifications
Prior experience in not-for-profit fund raising, or equivalent, is required. Two to four years of annual giving and/or special event experience is preferred. Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, are a must. Project management, organization, multitasking abilities are key. Basic analytical skills as well as strong interpersonal skills are required. Bachelors degree or equivalent is required.
