Some examples of what other students have done to help out:
“Thank Goodness its Summer Bash”
Amanda a thirteen-year old Starlight Starbright child wanted to throw a fundraiser so that she could give back to the organization that has helped her enjoy her childhood. Amanda planned a fundraiser party “just for kids” where all local junior high students were invited to enjoy music, dancing and good food. Over $1,000 was raised through ticket sales and a silent auction.
“Shining for Starlight”
As the son of a Starlight Starbright board member, Zac stepped up to make a difference by creating a fundraiser using his talents. For a donation, Zac washed and detailed people’s cars to making them shinny. Almost $1,000 was raised through Zac’s labor.
“Starlight Reading Project”
Ms. Hartman taught her first grade class both the importance of philanthropy and reading. Over an entire school year, her students read books while collecting pledges from friends and family for each page they read. Not only did they become better students, they also raised $300.
“Rollerskating Marathon”
Abigail has learned of Starlight Starbright from her father who has been a longtime volunteer and wanted to help too. As her youth group began planning a fundraiser, Abigail stepped up to be the chair for their rollerskating marathon. With their pledge collections, a donation of $500 was made to Starlight Starbright.
