Working together for 5 years
AOL has donated programming expertise, technology and 10,000 free AOL accounts that help seriously ill children access the Internet and therefore Starlight Starbright's programs, including Starbright World since early 2001.
The financial demands of having a seriously ill child typically take their toll on families, whose savings and income are wiped out by high medical bills. Although many families already have computers, paying for Internet access is a true luxury many just cannot afford.
AOL's generous gift of 10,000 free lifetime accounts for the child and family, which includes separate email accounts for each immediate family member, are a huge step in keeping kids and families connected to information and resources they desperately need.
In addition to accessing email and keeping in touch with friends, extended family, teachers and other, children and familes with free AOL accounts can access Starlight Starbright's online programs.
