A Tall Order - Fulfilled!
The new Toys "R" Us Starlight Site at Evanston Hospital must have some magic in it. Since it opened on March 24, young patients have been going a little nutty for it.
From toddlers to college students, everyone has found a way to make this room their own. Of course, with a special kitchen area for families to make a snack, a computer and Thomas the Tank Engine play area, it's not hard for any child to find some entertainment! In fact, since the room opened its doors, hospital personnel have seen countless children experiencing brighter days because of the relaxation a little personal space can bring.

"Seeing the children and families as they come to use this room really was well worth the efforts," remarks Sorelle Stanton, director of child life services at Evanston Hospital.
We've even received reports of the playroom computer saving the day for a hospitalized college student.
"A college student who was hospitalized for over a week was able to complete all of her homework because of [the computer's] use. It lessened her anxiety knowing that she would return to school with all of it completed," said Stanton.

For over five years, Toys "R" Us has worked with us to build these important getaways for hospitalized children. Without their help it would be impossible for us to do this important work. Thank you to both Toys "R" Us and the dedicated child health professionals like those at Evanston Hospital for helping to make these amazing playrooms a reality!
